The first day Debbie Stephens stepped into a classroom at Blackburn Elementary School five years ago, she felt overwhelmed.
From her point of view as a classroom volunteer, it seemed like chaos. She was at the school to help in Pamela Schubert’s kindergarten class.
Afterward, she had a new appreciation for teachers.
“There was just so much going on at one time and how the teacher could keep it straight in her head, I couldn’t imagine,” Stephens said. “With our help it seems to prevent so much chaos, especially for kindergarten.”
