It was a record-breaking year in 2017 for Newton-Conover City Schools.
While it’s the smallest school district in Catawba County, six schools with 2,976 students, the system has seen some big moments in academics, extra-curricular awards and graduation rates.
“Beyond some of the traditional measurables, I’m very proud of our district’s focus on the whole child and lifelong success,” Newton-Conover City Schools (NCCS) Superintendent David Stegall said via email. “We aren’t focused on passing a class or grade, or even just graduating. Those are expectations. Our job is to provide support so that every student makes the connection to accomplish those standards.”
