Hickory Woman’s Club presents scholarships to CVCC students through CVCC Foundation, Inc. gift

The Hickory Woman’s Club recently funded scholarships for several Catawba Valley Community College students through donations to the CVCC Foundation, Inc.

Emily L. Turner, a second year Emerging Leader enrolled in the accounting associate degree program, received a scholarship. She is an active member of the Accounting & Business Club and serves as secretary. She works full-time at RHA Health Services where she assists special care individuals in a group home setting. She is a Bunker Hill High School graduate and resident of Claremont.

Scholarship recipient Jordan K. Bumgarner is enrolled in the associate degree nursing program and plans to be a neonatal intensive care nurse. A graduate of Fred T. Foard High School, she lives in Newton.

Scholarship recipient Jennifer N. Butler is enrolled in the Criminal Justice Technology associate degree program. She plans to continue her education with a bachelor’s degree and pursue a career in law enforcement. Butler is a St. Stephens High School graduate and Newton resident.

The Hickory Woman’s Club awards scholarships based on financial assistance need, academic ability, leadership qualities, participation in community activities, and potential for a successful college career. The Hickory Woman’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the world’s oldest and largest women’s volunteer organization dedicated to community service since 1890.
